Tug-of-war taken to a whole new level
Police Bank was proud to sponsor the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Plane Pull which was held again at Richmond RAAF Base on Saturday 7 September 2013.
Twenty teams went up against the beast, a 50-tonne Hercules cargo plane in a fierce tug-of-war battle. The Hercules put up a fight, but each team conquered in pulling the cargo plane a full 10 metres.
Congratulations to the Public Order Riot Squad (PORS) who have won for the 4th year in a row. PORS, pictured left, managed to pull the C-130 Hercules in 11.94 sec. In second place was AFP Aviation in 12.31 seconds, while Harbourside LAC came third with 12.50 seconds.
Congratulations to all teams that participated in this year’s Plane Pull.
The LETR is the world’s biggest police charity and have raised $150,000 this year from their events and sponsors. The organisation was established in the USA in 1981 and has grown from 6 police officers to over 90,000 in just 30 years. It supports the work carried out by the Special Olympics movement to provide sporting opportunities for the intellectually disabled.
