Bushfires continue to burn across parts of southern Victoria, with the area along the Great Ocean Road particularly badly affected. So far, media reports suggest that over 100 properties have been lost, and some fires have yet to be fully controlled.
Forecasts of high temperatures, along with exceptionally dry conditions on the ground, mean we are preparing for fires to return to the area over the coming days. Allianz will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to members as they develop.
What are we doing?
Because conditions on the ground remain unsafe, our loss adjustor partners are currently unable to assess the damage. However, our partners have assembled teams that will enter the area when it is declared safe to do so.
Once a recovery site has been established, a fully equipped Allianz mobile assessment centre will also be sent to the area to provide rapid, face-to-face customer assistance.
Further details will be provided as they become available.
Claims to date
We expect to receive a number of domestic property, farm property and motor claims over the coming days.
Our dedicated claims consultants have been assisting members in lodging and assessing claims and will be available to help members with new claims as required.
Lodging a claim
Members whose property and/or motor vehicles have been damaged by bushfire should notify Allianz as soon as possible using one of the following methods:
- Online at www.allianzclaims.com.au
- By calling our claims line on 1300 555 030.
If possible, photos should be taken and details recorded of damaged items before they are removed. An inventory of possessions that have been damaged is also helpful.
An inventory is not necessary for total losses.
